Our Mission

Saving pets. Supporting families. Ending economic euthanasia.

Economic euthanasia—a preventable and complex crisis—occurs when pet guardians are forced to euthanize dogs or cats due to financial hardship. At Treasured Pets, we’re committed to ending this tragedy through a comprehensive, collaborative approach.

WE WORK ACROSS SECTORS TO CREATE LASTING CHANGE:

Pet and Companion Animal Guardians
We empower pet parents to proactively prevent financial and medical crises through four targeted programs designed to support both pets and their families.

Veterinarians & Veterinary Specialists
We partner with veterinary professionals to increase access to affordable care, helping clinics serve clients facing financial barriers—without compromising outcomes.

Employers & Insurers
We advocate for the inclusion of pet insurance in employee wellness benefits, demonstrating how pets support mental health, reduce stress, and increase overall well-being.

Government & Regulatory Bodies
We champion tax reforms that treat veterinary care as an essential health expense—reflecting the vital role pets play in family and community life. With 66% of U.S. households caring for a dog or cat, the impact of this work is both national and deeply personal. We're also leading the charge for the nation’s first National Euthanasia Reporting and Tracking System (NERTS) to bring transparency and accountability to the issue.

Our Vision

A future where no dog or cat is ever euthanized due to financial constraints—and every pet has access to life-saving veterinary care, regardless of their guardian’s income.

Treasured Pets is leading a national movement to ensure that economic euthanasia becomes a thing of the past.
